Our Old Faithful tour focuses on wildlife and thermal features as we travel through the Lower, Midway, and Upper Geyser Basins. On the way to Old Faithful, we offer the option of stopping at Biscuit Basin so you can ski or snowshoe approximately 2.5 miles through the Upper Geyser Basin, home to one-quarter of the world’s geysers. Non-skiers can continue in the coach to Old Faithful, where we spend approximately two hours. Watch elk and bison graze along the majestic Firehole River or see Bald Eagles in their native habitat.
The Old Faithful Snow Lodge has lunch available at a fast food grill, in sit-down restaurant dining, or if you wish to avoid a wait in line, we can provide a box lunch from one of our local delis or you can pack your own. After lunch, your guide will offer a walking tour of Geyser Hill, a great place to watch Old Faithful. The return trip is highlighted with a stop at Fountain Paint Pots, home of the famous bubbling mud and all four types of thermal features found in the park.
For the more adventurous…
Biscuit Basin Drop is a great option on the regular Old Faithful Tour. This cross-country ski or snowshoe follows gently rolling terrain 2 1/2 miles along the Firehole River, through the Upper Geyser Basin right to Old Faithful, passing fully 1/4 of the world’s geysers along the way! There you meet your guide and other snowcoachers for the scenic trip back to West Yellowstone. You should make arrangements for a sack lunch and bring a small daypack, as you may want to stop along the trail for a picnic.
